Are small businesses dropping out of AdWords?

Google AdWords

This is the question posed by www.seroundtable.com in their latest blog post.

While the survey just launched, I have long been predicting that Small Businesses have no future in AdWords.  The future looks does not look very bright for small businesses as I outlined in my free report The Coming AdWords War.

Adwords is a business model that works against the small company on a tight budget. I work in the dating arena and unless you are huge like Match or the other dating conglomerates you are squashed out of existence. In the old days solid sites like mine got organic google and it reflected our long tim in the market. now any white lable dating site can set up shop and dominate adwords in 3 months on the basis of a big cheque book! Adwords will kill off small sites in competitive sectors.

Prices are only going up, which made it hard for me to advertise in adwords in the first few positions for many of my keywords. But as Richard said above, there are still phrases that can be cost effective and get targeted visitors.
