I was listening to an interview with Bill Harris from Centerpointe. Here’s something quite astounding to most marketers. Centerpointe.com is a site that sells relaxation audios. The product sells for $179 plus shipping. Yet…every sale of that $179 product will bring Bill Harris an additional $800 in revenue over the long run. How? Well, each customer that buys his product will come back or send their friends to Centerpointe over and over again to buy additional modules. From a $179 sale, Harris will end up making $800 from the average customer. Harris does this through a savvy combo of personalized emails, bonus gifts, surprise follow ups and an excellent upsell system. What’s your Customer Lifetime Value? And how can you increase it? We’ll share ideas and tests in this blog over the coming weeks. Now here’s a question for you. If Harris was making $800 from the average new customer. And just 1% of his new visitors made a purchase. How much could he afford to bid on Google Adwords for a click without making a loss? The answer is a whopping $8.00 per click. I bet Harris isn’t bidding this much. But he’s certainly bidding high because he dominates Google for highly competitive terms like “Meditation”. This advantages comes from understanding the concept of Customer Lifetime Value, learning to boost this value and knowing how much you can bid to get a new customer. Knowing this can help you dominate adwords and strike a blow against your competitors. Below: Centerpointe’s Site Screen Shot (www.Centerpointe.com)

Yes, pay per click is a HUGE market and a HUGE opportunity but if you don’t know what you are doing, and I assume you know very little since you are searching for the keyword “pay per click make money” then don’t believe anyone that will tell you that you can succeed very quickly.
What is the Best PPC CTR? The Best PPC CTR Depends on What You are Looking At New Google AdWords users often wonder if the click-through-rate on their ads is good and what the best PPC CTR is that one can get. The best ppc CTR we have ever achieved on a single ad in Google is between 20 to 50%! However, the best PPC CTR depends on many important factors. The single most important factor is whether you are looking at ads on Google search or ads on Google’s content network. The best PPC CTR on Google search is way higher than ads on Google’s content network. Since we are only talking about ads on Google’s serach results pages, the best PPC CTR that we have seen can be north of 20%. However, the best PPC CTR depends on four key factors. 1) Ad Position The ad position has a huge impact on the best CTR. Obviously, the higher the ad, the higher the click-through-rate of your ad. So, unless you are in the top, it is impossible to get the best PPC CTR. 2) Ad Placement Once in a while, Google surfaces ads at the very top vs. just on the side. See the image below. Whenever Google surfaces ads in the very top, it is an indicator that these ads are getting a very high click-through-rate. The ads with the best PPC CTR that we have seen are always listed at the very top. 3) Ad Relevance Ads that are more relevant will get a higher click-through-rate. It is as simple as that. In the picture below, you will see that when the text of the search query shows up in the ad, that text gets highlighted in bold. This case the ad that contains the keyword phrase “mediation techniques” is highlighted in bold. In turn it makes the ad more noticeable and will improve the click-through-rate and help push your ad closer to getting the best PPC CTR possible. 4) The keyword Some keywords will have a higher click-through-rate on ads then others. If you want to get the best ppc ctr possible, then you need to find niche keywords. For example, below is one of our single best performing ads of all time. The click-through-rate on the ad below is 18%. That sure must come close to the best ppc ctr. Okay, we have seen some north of 30% but we are not going to reveal those since they are top performing keywords in some really hot markets. Since we make so much money with them, will have to keep them secret for now. We have hundreds of ads across hundreds of Ad Groups where the CTR of our ad is above 5%. This always happens for keyword phrases that contain at least two keywords. Single keywords (e.g. meditation) will always have a lower CTR than keyword phrases (e.g. meditation techniques). So, if you want to get the best PPC CTR possible, you need to find the best keyword phrases....

So, if you want to get the best PPC CTR possible, you need to find the best keyword phrases.

A lot of testing and tweaking is required to end up with the best PPC CTR possible. However, you need a winning system to ensure that you get the most out of your AdWords testing and tweaking. If you want to learn more, you can check out our “AdWords System Exposed” book.

The Secret Behind Optimized Keyword Marketing

Why Do Most AdWords Advertisers Get Optimized Keyword Marketing Completely Wrong?

To answer this question, you first have to know what Optimized Keyword Marketing means:

“Optimized Keyword Marketing means that your ads will show up for all relevant keywords and ONLY the relevant keywords.”

The reason why so many Google AdWords Advertisers get Optimized Keyword Marketing wrong is very simple. Most AdWords users take shortcuts and most don’t know what they really have to do. For some reason, too many people think that making money online is easy and takes no work.

New AdWords users often think:

All I have to do is start buying targeted keywords on Google AdWords and see the cash rolling in.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Just buying targeted keywords does not have anything to do with an optimized keyword list.

Let me give you an actual example that we just encountered.

One of our clients is marketing a personal improvement product that is designed to help people get more out of life and live a better and more fullfilling life. One of the key lessons of the book is focused on helping people develop a positive mental attitude.

As a result, the client created an Ad Group and bought the keyword “positive attitude.” However, at this point this Ad Group is not yet keyword optimized. For effective optimized keyword marketing, you always have to go and find all of the negative keywords.

In this case, looking up the negative keywords on WordTracker quickly revealed that lots of people are searching for:

positive attitude dress

positive attitude clothing line

positive attitude brand

positive attitude dresses

We quickly refined our clients Online Marketing efforts Group by adding the negative keywords to give him an optimizing keyword list and sure enough the ROI on his marketing spend increased significantly right away.

We have lots of clients that have hundreds of Ad Groups and pruning each list to filter out the negative keywords does take time and most Google AdWors Advertisers don’t go through all the trouble.

We say that’s great because as long as others don’t do it we will have an advantage and see a higher CTR and a higher ROI due to our optimized keyword marketing efforts.

How to start mastering Google AdWords Every online marketer wants know how to start mastering Google AdWords. However, very few actually know what it takes. We have been mastering Google AdWords for a long time and have identified two key secrets that we are about to share. Once you know these secrets, you too can start mastering Google AdWords too. The first secret to mastering Google AdWords is: You need a world class process and a winning system Here are four criteria you can use to judge if you have a winning system! It organizes what you need to do in an orderly, simple process. It increases your profits, and cuts back on your AdWords spending. You spend way less time on AdWords! The time-consuming tasks are automated. THE SYSTEM CAN BE APPLIED IN ANY ONLINE MARKET NICHE! If you don’t know what a winning system looks like, don’t try to fake it because you will be crushed by the Google AdWords advertisers that have already started mastering Google AdWords because they have a winning system in place. For the first time, we are giving away our winning system so that anyone can use it, even if you cannot afford to spend $5,000 to have us set it up for you. You can learn more about it here: AdWords System Exposed The second secret to mastering Google AdWords is: Test everything and never stop testing I am shocked at how few Google AdWords Advertisers actually test their Google AdWords campaigns, ad groups, and ad copy. Here is one example of a recent Google AdWords test. We tested the following two ads below. In one ad we had a more descriptive headline vs. a headline that only contained the keyword phrase that we targeting (ebook covers). However, this campaign was primarily for “content ads” so these ads are surfaced on blogs and other websites. I was pretty sure that the desriptive ad would do far better because it provided more information. However, our tests revealed the opposite. What is the lesson? If you want to start mastering Google AdWords, get a winning AdWords System and then test everything. If you don’t have a winning AdWords System, you can learn more about ours at AdWords System Exposed. For testing, all you need to setup is Google Conversion tracking so that you optimize your ads for more than just your click-through-rate.

If you have a direct competitor in the market, here is one very effective strategy to capture some of their potential business and win some of their potential customers. This strategy is perfectly legal but it will only work if you truly have a strong point of differentiation and a unique selling proposition to win these customers. After all, these visitors are not looking for you, they are looking for your competitor! So, how does this work? First, identify your competitors and see if anyone is directly looking for them. In the online marketing space, we have plenty of competitors. Some of them are internet marketing experts such as Stephen Pierce. So, here is what we did. We simply buy the keyword Stephen Pierce and tell prospective visitors “Read this before you buy Stephen Pierce.” Of course we also write a headline “Stephen Pierce Exposed” that gets a lot of attention. This ad copy has worked for us across many industries and across many competitors and every single time the same ad copy greatly outperforms anything else that we have been able to dream up so far. Here are the results: In this case, both ads did very well but the ad with the simple and straight forward copy that says “Read This Before You Buy [Enter Competitor]” works extremely well. This makes perfect sense because you are telling the visitor that before they make a purchase they should come and check out your website. If you can follow this up with an incredibly solid pitch, you might just have an opportunity to demonstrate to this visitor that what you have to offer is really what they want. PS: Of course the above technique only works if the names that you are entering are not protected trademarks since Google does not allow you to use trademarks in the copy of your ads.

Most Google AdWords Advertisers always think of cramming as much text as possible into their AdWords ads. After all, if you can add 35 characters per line, then why not getting the most out of your space? Well, here is a Google AdWords tip for you: Less can truly be more! The next time you create a new text ad on Google, go for less! Use less words on every line and see what happens. Whatever you do, don’t clutter up your ads! Instead, only add the essential copy and see what might happen. Here is a great ad that we had been running for a long time for one of our clients: This ad did quite well for us. It consistently got a CTR of 2.31%. This is not bad and we were quite pleased. We also had a conversion rate of 5.7% (i.e. 5.7 percent of visitors signed up for the free course). Overall, the results were very respectableand this was one of our better performing ads. However, we just did a new test. When I wanted to setup a new ad, I ran out of ideas of what copy to test, so I just deleted the second line and turned the first line into two lines. Here is the new ad we tested. Overall, the copy is far shorter and we even left out one of our key benefits. We no longer mentioned that we offered a free guide. However, what happened? Our CTR shot up to 3.61% and that is a 56% improvement in the click-through-rate. On top of that, the sign-up rate for our offer jumped up to 18.8% which is a 230% improvement! I was and I am still quite stunned by the huge improvement. I guess I will be testing lots more copy that is simpler, shorter, and goes straight to the point. What is even cooler is that I received an alert the moment I had completed a successful test of these two ads. How did I get this alert? I am using a free new tool called the “AdWords Optimizer.” You can access it here: http://adwords.clickmuse.com

Here is a great ad that we had been running for a long time for one of our clients:

This ad did quite well for us.
